Cold. It was cold out. Just enough to be above freezing but not by very much. Walking through the forest with her fitted blazer clinging to her, Estellise was all smiles. She liked the cold. Basked in it, enjoyed it, would be perfectly happy if the entire year felt just like the day did now. Who needed the heat of summer when there was snow in late autumn and plenty in winter? Honestly those who preferred to frolic on warm beaches never made sense to her at all.
Sweeping a stand of her behind her ear, the eighteen-year-old looked around with curious eyes. Leaves fell from the trees to create the perfect blanket over the ground she walked over. A crunch crunch sound happened whenever she stepped on one, causing her smile to widen and the dimples in her cheeks to become more prominent. Going home after school on a day like this was simply out of the question.
She continued walking deeper into the forest, listening to the sounds of the birds, and halted with wide eyes when her gaze fell upon a family of deer. The large buck, four doe, and two babies...it was a bit late for their mating season, wasn't it? From what she read the babies were born in spring normally to be grown by the time it was cold. Someone must have given birth late.
Sitting down on a fallen log, Estellise shifted things in her book bag around until reaching her sketch book. Lithe fingers moved deftly over white page as charcoal smeared the pristine sheet, outlines of the deer beginning to appear. Her brow knitted in utter concentration; it was the perfect chance to just relax and draw.
